What Is Love?

What is love? This is a one of the most important questions of life? Why? -
What do people long for most? Love, right? It makes sense as we are inherently made for God and God is love!

Coming back to the fundamental question of life:- What is love? ... Love can mean different things to different people. For example, some people groups apparently considered loving even killing and eating humans (i.e., forms of cannibalism). In general, trying to figure out what love means can be very confusing in this world.

Thankfully, from Scriptures we know what true love means (and I believe it can be tested in practice as well). According to Scriptures (i.e., 1 John 4:7-21, etc), God is true love. The kind of love that is ever-lasting and un-failing. This is the kind of love we are made for and we long for every moment!

Someone said, since God always existed, true love always existed, and hence, love was NOT CREATED - it always existed!

Remember Christ was the embodiment of true love on earth. To know precisely what true love is like, we should look at the life of Christ!

What is Evil?

This is a very important question of life for many reasons. One reason, for example, is we are so frustrated by rampant evil around the world. We always wonder how and when it will end!

Having said that how does one decide what is evil and what is good? For example some people groups have even considered killing & eating other humans as NOT evil (i.e., forms of cannibalism). Some people even say what is good, what is evil, what is right, what is wrong are all subjective. Hence, I believe one can get very confused trying to figure out the definition of evil and good. But one must figure it out, as everyday we make choices and we must not make evil choices!

Thankfully, Scriptures help us distinguish between good and evil. God gave us laws and commandments to do so (https://devos20xx.blogspot.com/2019/02/why-did-god-give-us-laws.html). In-fact to be Christ-like is to be NOT evil, and to be evil is to be NOT Christ-like.

On "Depending On God"

<UNDER CONSTRUCTION ...>

It is very important to understand what all it means (& NOT means) to be "depending on God" on a daily basis, as we were made to be ALWAYS dependent on God (i.e., John 15:5).

First of all remember, even to depend on God, you need to depend on God!

....

It is very important to be always aware of how much dependent on God you are. John Piper writes:- "Go to work utterly dependent on God (Proverbs 3:5–6; John 15:5). Without him you can’t breathe, move, think, feel, or talk. Not to mention be spiritually influential. Get up in the morning and let God know your desperation for him. Pray for help."

There is a great hymn - https://www.hymnal.net/en/hymn/h/371 - " ... I need Thee, oh, I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee ... " (Also Matt sings :- https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/mattmaher/lordineedyou.html " ... Lord, I need You, oh, I need You Every hour I need You ...")
